he health benefits of grass-fed, naturally raised beef verses feedlot
beef is simply in their diet, feedlot beef has a diet primarily of grain
which in turn produces a very fatty piece of meat. Cattle are ruminants
and are designed to eat a grass diet based around high fiber, low protein
forage. Grain based diets are high in protein and low in fiber causing the
digestive tract to become abnormally acidic; acidic environments allow E.
Coli to multiple rapidly.
Grass-fed beef is higher in Vitamin E, has up to 50% less fat, reduces
your risk of E. Coli and increases your Omega-3 intake. Pastured beef has two to four times more Omega-3 than store bought beef because Omega-3 is formed in green leaves.
Rising Sun Farm decided early that their focus was going to be on creating the highest quality product; nutritious food produced using sustainable farming practices makes this possible. Focusing on natural production methods, low stocking rates, biological and rotational controls and extensive, rather than intensive, production provides consumers with the highest quality product with maximum health benefits.
At Rising Sun Farm, our cattle live naturally all year on pasture obtaining their nutrients from grass or hay with minimal supplementation. The "manure smell" is not found at Rising Sun Farm due to the fact that our cattle graze our pastures throughout the year. By distributing their own manure lightly by grazing throughout the pasture, nutrien t recycling has immediate and very beneficial effects to both the soil and plants. We have no need to bring in manure at Rising Sun Farm - we use reusable resources that not only benefit our cattle but the environment.
We take pride in our low stocking density which in turn greatly reduces the risk of disease. Rising Sun Farm does not routinely administer antibiotics to our cattle through feed or any other form which is commonly found in large feed lots. Growth hormones are simply not needed at Rising Sun Farm, we pride ourselves on our superiority to other meats and we have absolutely no need to produce large volumes of cheap meat. Quality cannot be hurried.
Dry Aging sets Rising Sun Farm above the rest when it comes to processing. Our local USDA certified butcher dry ages our beef for 14-21 days in a temperature controlled room which reduces the water weight of beef by 30%. The dry aging process is a costly method but makes a huge difference in quality and greater taste that consumers notice immediately.
